Details have been announced for NXT: Africa Edition, the free virtual event program open to those eager to move forward with careers in sports, entertainment and fashion, with a focus on the emerging African market.
Live sessions kick off Jan. 26 and continue through Feb. 4 while featuring such notables, thought leaders and artists as Virgil Abloh, Zozi Tunzi, Laolu, Amaarae, Amadou Gallo Fall, Kemi Adetiba, Opal Tometi, and Aweng Chuol, among others. The program is homegrown as it sparked out of an idea from Endeavor assistant Adeola Bakre. Endeavor Social Impact’s Romola Ratnam helped pilot the program.
Topics to be covered include the role and importance of African led design in the global fashion industry; the impact of sports and how athletes and execs have used sport to uplift communities; building a bridge between Hollywood and African content; a workshop on talent representation and management in music; and influencers who are reshaping what it means to be African.
NXT: Africa Edition is presented by Endeavor Impact with a list of partners that includes Afrochella, Afropolitan Group, Amplify Africa, Culture Custodian, Diaspora Rising, Melanin Unscripted, Nike, Empire, Studio 189, The Plug, Tongoro and Yard. More information about the event can be found here.
Jan. 25, 9:44 a.m.: Bakre is an assistant at Endeavor, not the agency.
