This artwork first appeared in the Jan. 23 issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine.
After the violent events at the Paris offices of Charlie Hebdo on Jan. 7, which left 12 people dead, including five of the magazine’s cartoonists, The Hollywood Reporter asked Hollywood’s top animators for a cartoon response in tribute.
Via British illustrator Charlie Adlard’s pen, The Walking Dead’s Rick Grimes uses his one remaining hand to salute those who perished; The Lego Movie’s Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s message is “The pencil is mightier than the eraser”; and Family Guy’s Stewie Griffin, not one usually known for his sentimentality, has a simple message: “Je suis Charlie.”
