John Boyega brought The Force to life in multiple New York theaters Friday evening.
Following his appearance on The Tonight Show, where he revealed that his friends thought he was an extra in The Force Awakens, the Star Wars star made surprise appearances at various theaters across New York.
The first of three videos on his Instagram account shows Boyega in a cheering audience, giving high fives to fans in their seats before the film began. “Today I did surprise pop ups for opening night audiences in NYC! Had an amazing time meeting you all and again thank you for all the support. Thank you REGAL UNION SQUARE STADIUM , AMC LOEWS WEST 34TH STREET 14, AMC LOEWS LINCOLN SQUARE, UNITED ARTISTS COURT STREET AND WILLIAMSBURG CINEMAS,” he captioned the first clip.
“Thank you so much,” Boyega says in the second video to a crowd of fans surrounding him. “May The Force be with you.”
In the third clip, Boyega brought the excitement and energy to another New York audience: “I just wanted to pop by. I was in the area,” he said, before yelling, “Brooklyn!”
“Amazing energy from Brooklyn fans! I did random pop ups so they had no idea!” he wrote of his Brooklyn fans. “Some pop ups before the film and some after the film. Love it !”
