Donald Trump is delivering his first formal news conference since being elected.
The president-elect, whose inauguration day is Jan. 20, has yet to hold a press conference since November, opting for brief press talks and Twitter as his outlets.
The speech, held at Trump Tower in New York, was set to begin at 11 a.m. ET.
Trump was holding the preplanned news conference to discuss his future plans regarding his role with the Trump Organization. The delivery now comes, however, amid intelligence allegations that Russia had compromising personal and financial information about Trump.
The briefing about the document was first reported by CNN and is separate from the U.S. intelligence assessment of Russia’s meddling in the presidential election. The unverified dossier reported Tuesday contains unproved information about the coordination between Trump’s inner circle and Russians regarding the election hacking, as well as unproved claims that Trump took part in unusual sexual behavior.
Shortly after news reports were published on the briefing, Trump tweeted: “FAKE NEWS – A TOTAL POLITICAL WITCH HUNT!” On Wednesday, he denied the reports and lashed out at the intelligence committee, saying the “leaked” report was “one last shot” at his victory. “Intelligence agencies should never have allowed this fake news to ‘leak’ into the public. One last shot at me. Are we living in Nazi Germany?” he tweeted.
Trump is set to address the Russia report during the news conference, according to his counselor Kellyanne Conway.
