On Sunday night’s episode of Last Week Tonight, John Oliver tackled the Supreme Court’s ban on video cameras, pointing out that the American public should pay close attention to the proceedings.
“What happens at the Supreme Court is way too important not to pay attention to,” he said. While the Supreme Court does not allow cameras, it does release audio of the proceedings, which TV networks often pair with artistic renderings of the justices. Oliver suggested taking a different route. To keep people interested, Oliver decided to learn from viral video star Keyboard Cat and paired Supreme Court audio with video footage of dogs dressed up like the justices.

The resulting clip is incredibly entertaining, particularly the Sam Alito dog, who does everything from drink water to bang his gavel. Oliver and his team took it one step further by creating 10 minutes of SCOTUS dog footage so that anyone could match up the visuals with Supreme Court audio.
The Internet has already begun responding to Oliver’s request, carried out under the hashtag “RealAnimalsFakePaws.” Watch Oliver’s explanation and the raw footage below.
