Malia Obama’s internship at The Weinstein Co. is getting loads of attention. Following obsessive coverage of her entry-level script-reading gig, THR received an email from Charity Network promoting a Charitybuzz.com auction for a three-month internship at TWC.
“Here’s a special chance to learn all the ins and outs of the movie biz, and maybe even run into Malia Obama while you’re at it,” read the email, which advertised the internship as a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” in New York or L.A. With minutes left in the auction, bidding had reached north of $15,000, but once it closed, a final amount wasn’t clear.
The money raised is earmarked for Railway Children as part of an initiative inspired by TWC’s Oscar-nominated film Lion. Multiple emails to TWC and Charity Network went unreturned.
