There were lots of beards, from short to scraggly, last awards season. This time around, there were more clean-shaven leading men, but still plenty of short, cropped beards that looked great on guys including Gerard Butler, Steve Carrell, host Ricky Gervais and Chris Evans.
Both rocked fuller than normal facial hair. “John has just finished with a new movie, Thirteen Hours, so he is super buff right now. He has a big beard right now, so there is less skin to work with,” she says. While shorter, trimmed beards are easier to manage when it comes to products, Streicher says, “you have to be careful with beards. If you do apply some sort of makeup, you need to make sure to really blend the product in, as you don’t want any lines around the beard or any makeup to end up in it.”
And even on guys, sometimes makeup is necessary. For an even skin tone and glow, “To complete John’s look, I used a bit of Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Sunscreen ($44), which I applied with a moist Beautyblender,” says the stylist. Grooming Krasinski and Evans took less than 30 minutes each from start to finish — while watching football — including skincare, which for both consisted of ReVive Moisturizing Renewal Cream Retexturing Hydrator ($195), Moisturizing Renewal Serum Nightly Repair Booster ($235) and Intensite Les Yeux Firming Eye Cream ($225).
