Those who work in Hollywood have it good — in late November, highs still hit the 80s, leaving everyone tan and glowing. But when the inevitable mass exodus to the East Coast and Big Apple begins for the holidays, it’s hard to keep up that glow. Dehydration sets in on the plane and gets even worse once you’ve touched down in dry, cold weather.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. Vanessa Hernandez, Beverly Hills-based celebrity esthetician to stars like Gwyneth Paltrow, Claire Danes and Jenna Dewan, has a few tricks up her sleeve to make sure even the most stressed-out skin — family lurking everywhere, after all! — looks luminous and hydrated. Firstly, says the L’Oréal Paris partner, “On the plane, in a car or at the end of your evening, it’s important to keep your skin clean.” Beyond that, follow these four steps before, during and after travel:
1. Exfoliate
“Use a gentle scrub at least 3-5 times a week with a product that has granules in it — try Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser ($38). This will help slough off any dead skin cells or dry skin that accumulates on the top layer. Make sure to always hydrate using a serum and moisturizer after each exfoliation. Doing so will help keep skin looking fresh and glowing.”

2. Hydrate
“Hydrate with an oil every night and apply on your face, neck and chest. Natural and essential oils are amazing for your skin, but also great for your psyche — they’re calming, soothing and nourishing, which we all need during the crazy holiday timeframe. Try L’Oréal Paris Age Perfect Cell Renewal Oil ($20).”
3. Infuse
“Infuse your skin with intense doses of long-lasting moisture. Try La Prairie Cellular Hydrating Serum ($220) — it’s a splurge, but worth it. It also won’t clog your pores.”

4. Mask
“Quench your skin with an overnight mask either before or during your trip. You can maintain the great results by using it at least once a week. Try L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Triple Power Overnight Mask ($22.49).”
