Wolf Hall has emerged as the frontrunnner for BAFTA’s annual television craft awards, picking up six nominations.
The BBC’s acclaimed historical miniseries — shown on PBS’ Masterpiece in the U.S. — was on Tuesday shortlisted in six categories, including costume design, editing: fiction, makeup and hair design, photography and lighting: fiction, sound: fiction and writer: drama, and now finds itself leading the pack ahead of the April 24 ceremony.
Elsewhere, Sky’s big-budget Arctic thriller Fortitude — starring Stanley Tucci, Sofie Grabol and Michael Gambon and soon due to start shooting season two — picked up four nominations, the same number as the BBC’s Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell and its Ben Whishaw-starring espionage drama London Spy.
Comedy Catastrophe — showing on Amazon Prime — also earned two nominations, including for writer: comedy, for its creators Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan, and director: fiction.
Announced last week, casting director Nina Gold, whose credits include Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Wolf Hall and Game of Thrones, is to receive BAFTA’s Special Award.
