Fans celebrated on Twitter as the United States women’s soccer team defeated France Wednesday in the semifinals. Their 3-1 victory in Moenchengladbach, Germany, gave Team USA passage into the final Sunday. They will play either Japan or Sweden.
This will be the first time in 12 years that team USA has been in the Women’s World Cup Final.
Team goalkeeper Hope Solo, who has been praised for her astounding performance during the World Cup this year, jumped on Twitter to celebrate, writing “WORLD CUP FINAL BABY!”.
Fans celebrated along with Solo, even poking fun at the Men’s team:
