DC Entertainment continues to expand its reach into the young reader market with the announcement of a new young adult prose series centering around four marquee characters launching next year.
The four books, revealed in a Mashable story on Thursday, will involve Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman and Catwoman.
The writers working on the books are Leigh Bardugo (Wonder Woman), Marie Lu (Batman), Matt de la Pena (Superman) and Sarah J. Maas (Catwoman), with the publisher saying that the books will “embrace themes of good vs. evil, coming-of-age romance and superheroes from unexpected places who have the determination to achieve seemingly impossible dreams.”
The announcement of the titles, produced in partnership with DC and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, follows the launch earlier this year of DC Super Hero Girls, a cross-media outreach aimed at girls aged 6 through 12, and Lois Lane: Fallout, a YA novel based on the Superman supporting character, written by Gwenda Bond and published by Switch Press last year. (A sequel, Lois Lane: Double Down, also by Bond, will be released in May.)
Bardugo’s Wonder Woman, which kicks off the series, will be released in August 2017.
