George Clooney Amal Alamuddin Venice - P 2014

A rundown of what will be going on in Italy this weekend

Let the festivities begin: George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin have descended upon Venice for their nuptials this weekend, and all eyes are on the couple after their engagement in April.

Here, we give you a quick rundown of what will likely be the wedding of the year.

The couple will be married by one of Clooney's close friends.

Walter Veltroni, the former mayor of Rome, is reportedly going to wed the duo, according to Italian media outlet Corriere della Sera. Clooney first met Veltroni in 2007 when he received the Peace Summit Award for promoting peace in Darfur.

The duo will get designer treatment.

Giorgio Armani is dressing Clooney and Alexander McQueen is designing Alamuddin's gown, so we're expecting some stunning wedding ensembles (and photos!).

Cate Blanchett, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are on the star-studded guest list.

Rumored guests also include Matt Damon, Sandra Bullock, Bono, Cindy Crawford and Ellen Barkin, who hosted Alamuddin's bridal shower in August.

Cindy Crawford's husband is part of the wedding party.

The supermodel's husband, Rande Gerber, will be Clooney's best man. According to Architectural Digest, the pals were neighbors for years, living in side-by-side vacation homes in Los Cabos. "We've been hanging out for 20-something years," Gerber told the home and design publication. "Long before the houses were built, we would travel to Baja together, staying at different hotels and drinking tequila."
