Gere, Ullman careers feted at San Seb fest

MADRID -- Richard Gere and Liv Ullman will each be honored with the Donostia Lifetime Achievement award at the 55th annual San Sebastian International Film Festival, organizers said Friday as they revealed the remaining details of the festival's lineup.

Gere will receive the award Sept. 23. Additionally, Gere's film "The Hoax," directed by Lasse Hallstrom, has been added to the Zabaltegi section as one of the pearls from previous festivals.

Ullman will receive the Donostia Award on Sept. 28 and be further honored with a showcase of her four directorial efforts.

Organizers also unveiled the official competition jury. Accompanying chair Paul Auster on the jury will be Swedish actress Pernilla August, Italian actress-producer Nicoletta Braschi, Iranian director Bahman Ghobadi, Spanish actor Eduardo Noriega, Argentine actress Susu Pecoraro and British director Peter Webber.

Meanwhile, Han Jae-rin's "The Show Must Go On" (South Korea) and Angel Amigo's "El Ano de Todos los Demonios" (Spain) were added to the Zabaltegi section lineup Friday, while Antonio Mercero's "Y Tu Quien Eres" will run in Latin Horizons.

San Sebastian runs Sept. 20-29 in Spain's northern Basque region.
