German talk star takes on political show
Gunter Jauch signs three-year deal with ARDBERLIN – Gunter Jauch, Germany's most popular on-air presenter, has signed a three-year deal with public broadcaster ARD to host a new political talk show.
Jauch will continue to host top-rated game show "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" for commercial net RTL, though he will give up the on-air job at RTL's news magazine "Spiegel TV."
Jauch's new political talk show, which kicks off next year, will have the sweet ratings slot of Sunday evening right after ARD's hit crime series "Tatort."
ARD has been chasing Jauch for years to take on a flagship political show but previously had been unable to seal a deal.
