German youths favor TV on the Web

Half of 15- to 19-year-olds prefer to watch online, report says

BERLIN -- Germans in the 11-39 age group spend considerably more time online than they do in front of the TV, Hamburg market researcher tFactory said Monday.

Of total daily media consumption, 40% goes to the Web, while television gets only a quarter.

And even that is just background noise a lot of the time, according to the report. About 40% pay no attention to the tube, and half of all 15- to 19-year-olds prefer to watch TV content on their computers.
