Germany's EVA takes 50% stake in DUO

Philip von Alvensleben to stay as joint head

BERLIN -- German sales and production outfit Entertainment Value Associates has acquired a 50% stake in Philip von Alvensleben's L.A.-based sales group DUO, with an option to buy the whole company, EVA said Wednesday.

EVA managing director Kai-Roger Gruneke will serve as DUO's new chief executive and jointly run the group together with Von Alvensleben.

DUO holds rights to some 20 titles, many through its Alive Entertainment division, including all rights outside North America for the miniseries "Zone of Separation," starring Colm Meaney.

EVA also is rumored to be in negotiations to buy troubled German production/distribution group Senator.
