Germany's ProSiebenSat.1 Buys to Boost Music Service Ampya

ProSieben may also use to cross-promote its popular music show "The Voice of Germany."

ProSieben also inks music streaming deal with mobile carrier Vodafone.

German broadcast giant ProSiebenSat.1 has boosted its music streaming service Ampya with the acquisition of, an online music site that provides English and translated lyrics to hit tunes. ProSieben purchased the site from Liechtenstein-based operators Netdo Establishment for an undisclosed sum. claims to have 2.61 million unique monthly users.

While will continue to operate an independent online service, the platform will be integrated with ProSieben's music streaming service Ampya, which the group launched this summer.

Ampya is taking on more established music sites, including Spotify and German competitor Simfy offering more than 20 million songs and some 57,000 music videos for instant online and mobile streaming.  In contrast to those services, however, Ampya aims to be a full-service music site, also offering news and reviews alongside the tunes.

Ampya recently signed up a major corporate client with leading mobile operator Vodafone offering Ampya subscriptions to its customers.
