'Ghost Writer' co-star joins AMC pilot

Jon Bernthal in 'Walking Dead'; other cable pilots add to casts

"The Ghost Writer" co-star Jon Bernthal is the first actor cast in AMC's drama pilot "Walking Dead."

In other cable pilot castings, "Superman Returns" star Brandon Routh, Hal Linden, Amir Arison, Tina Majorino and Kevin Michael Richardson have joined TBS' "In Security," and Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon, Reed Diamond and Dana Davis have boarded "Franklin and Bash," another hourlong TBS pilot.

Also at TBS, Tim Jo and Josh Brener have been added to the 1980s fraternity comedy pilot "Glory Daze." Jo is repped by Innovative and David Dean Management; Brener is with TalentWorks.

"Dead," based on Robert Kirkman's comic book, chronicles the months and years following a zombie apocalypse and revolves around survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a secure home.

Bernthal will play Grimes' partner and friend Shane, an outgoing bachelor. On TV, he most recently starred on "Eastwick."

"Security" revolves around two sisters (Constance Zimmer and Kat Foster) who take over their father's (Linden) private-security business protecting the super-elite while dealing with personal and family issues.

Routh, recurs on NBC's "Chuck," will play a former Navy SEAL-turned-bodyguard at the firm who sleeps with one of the sisters. He's repped by UTA and Main Title.

Richardson, Majorino, repped by Innovative and Leverage, and Arison ("Law & Order: SVU"), repped by BRS and Sweet 180, also will play employees of the company.

Linden is repped by Stone Manners Salners and Shelter Entertainment.

"Bash" revolves around Jared Franklin (Breckin Meyer) and Steven Bash (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), two street lawyers and lifelong friends who, after taking down a white-shoe law firm in a high-profile case, are recruited by the firm's patriarch, Stanton Infeld (Malcolm McDowell).

The Paradigm-repped Diamond ("24") will play Infeld's nephew; Beauvais-Nilon, repped by SDB and Luber Rocklin, will play the nephew's girlfriend. "Franklin" reunites Diamond with the pilot's creator Kevin Falls. Diamond also co-starred on Falls' NBC series "Journeyman."

Davis, repped by Gersh and the Marshak/Zachary Co., will play an employee at the firm.
