Gibson nabs first Palin interview

Will appear on all ABC News platforms

NEW YORK -- ABC News' Charles Gibson has snagged the sought-after first interview with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin since she was named the Republican vice presidential pick nearly two weeks ago.

Gibson and executive producer Jon Banner locked down the interview on Friday night, when Gibson was in Los Angeles for the "Stand Up to Cancer" telethon in Los Angeles.

Details of the interview have yet to be announced, but it's likely to take place within the next week and appear on all of ABC News' platforms including "World News With Charles Gibson" and possibly a primetime hour. There were no preconditions to the interview.

Earlier Sunday, McCain said on "Face the Nation" that Palin would be doing interviews soon but declined to discuss the matter further.
