Bryan Cranston to Get Giffoni Film Fest Honor
The festival will also debut the Italian release of 'Despicable Me 3.'
Giffoni Film Fest announced its first big international star coming to Italy this July: Bryan Cranston. The actor will receive the festival's Giffoni Experience Award, which recognizes great contributions in the world of film and television acting. Past award recipients include Mark Ruffalo, Orlando Bloom and Martin Freeman.
Giffoni Film Fest this year will welcome thousands of young cinema goers with a lineup dedicated to themes for children and young adults. Cranston, like other stars in past years, will meet with the festival's young audience and share his career knowledge. The Breaking Bad and Trumbo star next appears in Robin Swicord's Wakefield, Richard Linklater's Last Flag Flying, and Neil Burger's Untouchable.
The festival will debut the Italian release of Despicable Me 3, as the event has proven to be a great marketing launch for animated films, with children present from 52 countries worldwide.
The theme of the 47th edition of the Giffoni Film Fest is "Into the Magic," a nod to its unique experience as one of the largest festivals in the world dedicated to children and teenagers. Plans are already in the works for the festival's 50th edition in 2020 to mark it as a cultural event by UNESCO.
Giffoni Film Fest takes place July 14-22.
