Stylist Monica Rose Talks Dressing Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner for AMAs
The wardrobe wiz reveals how the ladies' winning looks came together.
Despite opting for monochromatic black and white ensembles, trendy supermodels Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid lit up the red carpet at Sunday night's AMAs.
But it wasn't just the fact that the ladies were rocking brand new hair (a faux bob for Gigi and bangs for Kendall) or that they're, you know, gorgeous supermodels, that had everyone buzzing about the red-carpet stunners.
Hadid made a splash when she arrived in a stunning white Bao Tranchi two-piece number which showed off her whittled waistline and her miles-long legs.
"We had different dresses custom-made for the AMAs and this was one of our favorites," stylist Monica Rose told Pret-a-Reporter of the one-of-a-kind look. Rose, who was also behind the Jenner sisters' edgy ensembles, noted that there was also a conscious effort to change it up from Hadid's last cut out red-carpet look.
"Gigi gravitated towards white [because] we wanted to venture away from what she wore to the [Victoria’s Secret] After Party, so this was a very clean and chic vibe." The dress was such a winner, in fact, that it inspired her decision to try her faux bob on for size. "The dress called for short, sexy, easy-looking hair," said hairstylist Bryce Scarlett.

As for the Jenner ladies (unintentionally matching in all black looks), Rose said that they wanted to keep things "effortless" and a little bit "rocker."
For Kendall, "we wanted to show off her legs," said the stylist of the 20-year-old's backless black Oriett Domenech mini dress, which she styled with lace-up Balmain heels.
Kylie's ensemble, on the other hand was a bit riskier. The 18-year-old stunned in a revealing, custom-made Bryan Hearns dress made of black leather and chain detail, which she paired with minimalist Tamara Mellon heels.
