Everything about Gigi Hadid’s bold look at Monday’s CFDA Fashion Awards was pure gold, from her sequin-covered Michael Kors jumpsuit and glowy makeup down to her juicy manicure. For the latter, celebrity manicurist Mar y Soul tells Pret-a-Reporter she took inspiration directly from the model’s look.

"When Gigi described her custom sparkly jumpsuit by Michael Kors and told me about the Swarovski crystal accessories, I immediately thought we should do a sexy coral nail," says the manicurist, who has also worked with Gisele Bundchen and Oprah Winfrey. "Once we discussed the feel for her hair and makeup we decided the coral should have an extra pop of orange to complement her bronzed skin."

The shade she went with was Essie’s Meet Me At Sunset ($8.50), which she used after helping Hadid relax with a hand massage using La Mer’s The Hand Treatment ($45). When it came to the polish, Soul used two thin coats to achieve the "perfect vibrant orange. It’s really important to apply thin coats to get the color to look like it did on Gigi," she says.
