Gilford on squad for 'Post-Grad'
Empty"Friday Night Lights" star Zach Gilford is in final negotiations to play the love interest of Alexis Bledel in the Fox Atomic comedy "The Post-Grad Survival Guide."
Michael Keaton, Carol Burnett and Rodrigo Santoro also are joining the cast.
The film centers on Ryden Malby (Bledel), who graduates from college and is forced to move back home with her eccentric family while trying to find a job, meet the right guy and figure out where her life is headed.
Gilford is best known for his role as quarterback Matt Saracen on the critically acclaimed NBC sports drama, which has shuttered production because of the writers strike. He is repped by Endeavor and D/F Management.
There's no word on what roles Keaton and Burnett will play in the comedy. Santoro ("300," "Lost") is set to play a neighbor who is an infomercial director and becomes a friend and confidant to Bledel's Ryden.
Vicky Jenson ("Shrek") is directing the comedy, which is scheduled to begin filming Monday in Los Angeles. The Montecito Picture Co.'s Ivan Reitman and Tom Pollock are producing along with Joe Medjuck and Jeff Clifford.
Keaton appeared in the recent TNT miniseries "The Company" and made his directorial debut with the Sundance Film Festival entry "Merry Gentlemen." He is repped by UTA and attorneys Matt Johnson and Wendy Kirk.
Comedy legend Burnett most recently lent her voice to the upcoming animated comedy "Horton Hears a Who" and appeared on ABC's "Desperate Housewives." She is repped by ICM and manager Bill Robinson.
Santoro recently wrapped the Che Guevara biopic "Guerrilla" and "Redbelt." He is repped by the Gersh Agency and Brillstein Partners.
