Globes a dud on cable, too

E! Entertainment Television topped the cable networks' coverage of the Golden Globes news conference Sunday, but none of the three that aired the live telecast had much to brag about.

E! averaged 547,000 total viewers for its 9-9:37 p.m. EST coverage of the event, while CNN drew 525,000 and TV Guide Network brought in 385,000 from 9-10 p.m., according to Nielsen Media Research.

E!'s coverage fell off from its lead-in, an episode of "Snoop Dogg's Father Hood" (735,000).

CNN built on its lead-in, "CNN: Special Investigations Unit" (404,000), but didn't match the numbers of its lead-out, "CNN Newsroom" (610,000). TV Guide also built on its lead-in, a two-hour Globes preshow (356,000), and also did better than the hourlong postshow that followed (275,000).
