The NBC late-night show had canceled a taping of its Friday episode so Fallon could be with his mother in the hospital.

Late-night host Jimmy Fallon's mother, Gloria Fallon, died Saturday in New York City. She was 68.

The mother of two children, son Jimmy and daughter Gloria, Fallon was part of a close-knit family. She met her husband, James Fallon, while they were in high school together in Brooklyn. The younger Gloria appeared on the late-night staple as part of her brother's game segments.

"Jimmy Fallon's mother, Gloria, died peacefully on Saturday. Jimmy was at his mother's bedside, along with her loved ones, when she passed away at NYU Langone Medical Center in NYC," read a statement from a family spokesperson. "Our prayers go out to Jimmy and his family as they go through this tough time."

On Friday, NBC announced that The Tonight Show had canceled the taping of that night's episode so that Fallon could be with his mother in the hospital. A repeat episode aired in its place.

Tonight Show tapings have been canceled for the week of Nov. 6. Repeat episodes will air instead.

An NBC spokesperson sent The Hollywood Reporter the following statement: "On behalf of everyone at NBC, we extend our deepest condolences to Jimmy and all his family at this time of enormous loss. Our hearts go out to Jimmy and everyone else whose lives were so touched by Gloria Fallon's love, kindness and support."

Gloria Fallon was in attendance when her son first took over as host of The Tonight Show in 2014.

Jimmy Fallon once shared on The Howard Stern Show that his mother was a nun for a brief period at one point in her life.

According to an anecdote told by Danny DeVito, Gloria once interrupted a Broadway performance by Robert De Niro when she opened a candy wrapper.

As part of the Tonight Show host's recurring hashtag segments, Fallon once shared a memory from his own mother for #MomQuotes on Twitter: "My mom and I were talking on the phone for the third time that day and she actually said, "We don't talk enough." #MomQuotes"

Fellow late-night host Stephen Colbert tweeted his condolences on Sunday: "Mom is the first audience and the best. Remembering Jimmy Fallon and his family in our prayers today."
