GoFundMe Campaign for Orlando Shooting Victims Reaches $1M in Record Time
Equality Florida is working with local organizations to distribute the funds to victims and their families.
Equality Florida started a GoFundMe page to raise money for the victims of Sunday's mass shooting at Orlando gay nightclub Pulse.
The campaign received $1 million faster than any GoFundMe campaign in the company's history, reports GoFundMe's vice president of communications and policy Dan Pfeiffer.
Equality Florida said it is working with local organizations to raise money and ensure the funds are distributed properly. The LGBT civil rights organization is also working with the National Center for Victims of Crime to distribute the donations.
The GoFundMe page was created yesterday and has already received $1.7 million dollars in donations from more than 43,000 people. The current goal for the campaign is $2.5 million.
