Dwayne Johnson's daughter, Simone Garcia Johnson, already has started her career as a model with IMG.

On Wednesday evening, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association marked the upcoming 75th anniversary of the Golden Globe Awards by announcing Simone Garcia Johnson as their first-ever Golden Globe Ambassador at their annual reveal party, held at Catch LA, in partnership with InStyle and presented by Fiji Water.

Since 1962 the HFPA has chosen an honoree, formerly known as Miss or Mr. Golden Globe, from among the offspring of the industry elite. This year, the organization changed the name to be more gender-neutral.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, HFPA president Meher Tatna explained the need for the update: "With the 75th anniversary, It seemed like the perfect time to update the role and expand it. 'Miss Golden Globe' sounds a little bit dated now, so we wanted our honoree to pick a charity and work with the charity, be around and more involved rather than just have the party and then hand out trophies. I think those days are gone now.”

Among the new generation of Hollywood stars, Garcia Johnson, the daughter of Dwayne Johnson producer Dany Garcia, already has started her career as a model with IMG. Prior to joining her friends and family at the West Hollywood rooftop, she shared her experience thus far with THR.

“I feel so blessed and so excited to be part of this, especially being the first Golden Globe Ambassador and knowing that this tradition is going to be carried on — It’s going to be amazing,” she said.

As part of her new duties as ambassador, Garcia Johnson will partner with her favorite nonprofit organization, Global Girl Media, during her yearlong term.

“They’re an incredible organization," she said, "And they empower young women through digital journalism, and they give them all the tools they need to get their voice heard."

Garcia Johnson also shared her father and mother’s advice on her new role: “They told me to live in the moment and have fun and to always be myself, and I’m carrying that with me with everything that I do — especially with this.”

Several A-listers were in attendance at the gala including Jake Gyllenhaal, Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Issa Rae, Kumail Nanjiani, Octavia Spencer, Olivia Culpo, Salma Hayek, Sarah Hyland and Mary J. Blige, who mingled and enjoyed seafood stations, open bars and an interactive open-air photo booth.
