Golden Globes: Lady Gaga, Leonardo DiCaprio, 'The Martian' Dominate Social Media

Jennifer Lawrence, Katy Perry, 'Mozart in the Jungle' and 'Mr. Robot' were among the most-mentioned entities on Twitter throughout the evening.

Onscreen and online, Lady Gaga won the Golden Globes.

The musician took home the award for best performance by an actress in a TV movie or miniseries on Sunday for her onscreen turn in the fifth installment of American Horror Story: Hotel. The role of the bloodthirsty (and incredibly well-dressed) hotel owner The Countess marked Gaga's acting debut.

Gaga's win was the most popular moment of the awards show on Twitter, where the broadcast generated more than 4.4 million tweets globally.

Also of note were wins by The Revenant star Leonardo DiCaprio for best drama film actor, and Mr. Robot for best TV drama.

During the ceremony, the most-mentioned celebrities on Twitter were Gaga, Jennifer Lawrence and DiCaprio (Gaga and DiCaprio's popularity probably fueled not only by their wins, but the viral moment that occurred when the singer brushed past the actor, who then made a face).

The mentioned stars on the red carpet were Gaga (in Versace), Lawrence (in Dior) and presenter Katy Perry (in Prada).

Gaga's win was also the top moment of the Golden Globes on Facebook, where the awards show generated 19 million interactions (posts, likes and comments).

Other buzzy show moments on Facebook included wins by The Martian of best comedy film, DiCaprio for best drama film actor, Empire star Taraji P. Henson for best drama TV actress and Mozart in the Jungle for best comedy series.
