Her glam squad pulled out all the stops.

Blake Lively may have attended the Golden Globes to support her well groomed hubby, Ryan Reynolds, but it seems she couldn’t help but draw some attention away from the first-time nominee, thanks to a bold Versace gown and bombshell hair and makeup. “I initially pulled inspiration from Italian actress and model Anita Ekberg, which fit Blake’s overall look and feel for the night,” says hairstylist Rod Ortega of the vintage sex symbol.

That vision worked seamlessly with the black and gold gown, from the modern-day French twist Ortega created in her hair to the subtle nod to art deco by makeup artist Kristofer Buckle. “Blake’s high cheekbones and eyes were the focus for the look,” he says. “We created structure and used a mixture of matte and iridescent shades to create a very velvety, contoured, dynamic eye.” Alongside that, he opted to keep her lips very natural, deciding not to line her pout and only use L’Oreal Paris Infallible Paints Lipcolor in Spicy Blush ($10).

“We’ve always done very fresh looks for Blake. Tonight she definitely has some glam, but it’s still wearable and soft. There is a bit of spontaneity to it,” says Buckle. Her ‘do also echoes that feeling, since Ortega says it can be done simply at home either ultra-messy or tight and clean, as an alternative to a basic bun or ponytail. His step-by-step: “For texture and body, use L’Oreal Paris Hair Expert Ordinary Clay Dry Shampoo ($7) around the face, crown and back of the hair, then layer Elnett Hairspray ($15) for a sleek look. Pull half your hair into a pony at the top of the head, wrap a piece around the rubber band, then twist the other half left or right, tuck it under and secure with pins all around.”
