The ‘Moonlight’ star’s makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic, reveals the products behind the pretty face.

Celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic says Moonlight star Naomie Harris’ “beautiful, big almond-shaped eyes were the highlight of the look,” but an argument also could be made for her pinkish-nude lips, or her flawless complexion, as the stars of the show. Regardless, the combination made for a subtly glamorous look. “When we found her dress, a beautiful silvery Champagne-tone Armani gown and decided to do Old Hollywood waves, I wanted to do something not so literal [for makeup], a more modern take with a softer lip and blown-out smoky eye.”

The base of the entire look, though, was Harris’ radiant skin. “She has great skin,” says Dedivanovic, who applied Chanel’s new Blue Serum ($110) all over her face and neck to create a primer-like base and healthy look. To finish her smooth, poreless look, he applied Chanel Le Teint Ultra Tenue Ultrawear Flawless Foundation ($60) with a brush, then bounced a damp Beauty Blender sponge all over Harris' skin. “It takes off that top layer and gives it a more natural, soft look. It also presses [the foundation] into the skin to make it look really flawless,” he says.

Her lip, too, felt supernatural — barely there and alluring. “I wanted it to have a little pop and not be too nude, so I used these new Chanel Jumbo Longwear Lip Crayons ($37), the Rose Claire along the outer rim of her lips, almost like a liner, and the Nude in the center area, top and bottom.” The lip formulas, he says, work on anyone since they’re sheer and creamy—“it’s a no-brainer.” It’s also a finish he predicts will be showing up more as awards season progresses. “Less of the matte lip, and pops of color. I think we’ll be seeing some different lip textures and creams and glosses, too.” After all, he says, the creamier look is youthful and healthy looking. “When you have a little creaminess to the lip it’s sexier, for sure.”
