Golden Globes Fashion: Zooey Deschanel Goes Retro '60s Glam In Sparkly Green Prada Gown
The 'New Girl' nominee may not have won a Globe but she got raves for her breakthrough sophisticated Prada gown
Zooey Deschanel took a major fashion risk at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards. Known for her quirky, girly personal style, she was surprisingly sophisticated and sleek in a sequined sparkly green and black gown by Prada. Her clutch and black satin pumps are all Prada too. Convenient.
She described how she felt about the dress, which also featured a small white lace collar, "It's a little different for me, so its fun."
And then she showed off her black and white tuxedo manicure, painted not by her but by "a professional."
Her hair was also a red carpet fashion topic. She wore false eyelashes and choppy side pieces, a hair trend that was set in the mid' '60s by British actresses and models such as Jean Shrimpton.
Zooey was nominated for Best Performance by a TV Actress (Comedy or Musical) for her role in New Girl but lost to Laura Dern and her HBO series Enlightened. But Zooey was in good company with the other losers Tina Fey (30 Rock), Laura Linney (The Big C), and Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation).
Do you like the new sophisticated Zooey? Or do you hope she goes back to her girlier-than-thou look?
