The HFPA has instituted strict rules governing how its members can be lobbied. Among the guidelines:-- No invitations may be offered to HFPA members for special events (excluding screenings and premieres) unless other press also are invited.
-- The attendance of talent at HFPA receptions must be approved by a special HFPA committee and organized in conjunction with the participating studio.
-- No gifts may be given to HFPA members other than regular promotional items distributed to other journalists. Value of gifts must not exceed $95.
-- No live music may be performed exclusively for HFPA members by those eligible for Globes in the best original song or best original score categories.
-- Solicitation of HFPA members' opinions about films, television programs and/or performances is not allowed.
-- Other than press kits, no reviews or other printed publicity may be mailed to members.
