Golden Globes: Wins by Network, Program, Film, Studio

The CW won its first-ever Golden Globe

It was a big night for Amazon and The CW at the 72nd annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday.

Amazon Studios won its first-ever Golden Globes — collecting two statuettes for Transparent, which got the nod for best comedy series and best actor in a comedy for star Jeffrey Tambor.

The CW, as predicted, won its first Golden Globe as well, for breakout star Gina Rodriguez's role in Jane the Virgin. The network's single win tied it with perennial powerhouse HBO, which despite 15 nominations only managed to net one trophy, for Matt Bomer's performance in telepic The Normal Heart. Showtime netted two wins for its new series The Affair, which got the nod for best drama series and best drama actress for Ruth Wilson

FX also won two Golden Globes, both for miniseries Fargo. Noah Hawley's anthology won for best miniseries, while Billy Bob Thornton took home the best actor in a miniseries or TV movie.

On the film side, it was a three-way tie between studios with three wins apiece. Fox Searchlight can thank Birdman and The Grand Budapest Hotel for its three total wins on the night. Birdman took the title of best screenplay, its star Michael Keaton won for best drama actor and The Grand Budapest Hotel won best motion picture, comedy or musical.
