Google to launch mobile phone


NEW YORK -- Google is expected to announce a mobile phone powered by its technology within the next two weeks, said a report in the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday. The phone, which is expected to be available in the middle of next year, will provide Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps and other applications from the search giant and it will be an open platform for developers to built their own mobile features. Google is reportedly talking to LG and HTC Corp. about building the device with T-Mobile mentioned as a potential carrier in the U.S. A Google spokeswoman declined comment to the Journal.
