Gucci Dresses Lana Del Rey, Elton John & David Furnish for Grammys Red Carpet
The Gucci club arrives.
Having Alessandro Michele of Gucci dress you is kind of like an induction into an elite fashion club. On the Grammys red carpet, nominee Lana Del Rey as well as Sir Elton John and husband David Furnish made the cut, decked out in custom Gucci.
Del Rey wore an ivory silk crepe drape-neck gown with crystal star embroidery and a crystal rope necklace with strappy silver platform heels. She topped off the look with a a halo of sparkly stars in the form of a Gucci headpiece crafted of silver and crystal.
John wore a (no surprise) ultra-flashy, multicolored, geometric-patterned, sequined jacket with crystal embellishments toned down with a solid black silk shirt and tie and black trousers with crystal detailing. His black Gucci booties were emblazoned with his E.J. monogram and star embroidery. Of course he had on his signature glittery sunglasses, today in yellow (also by Gucci), and multicolored multifinger rings that spelled out “Elton” and “John.” At his side, Furnish wore a statement, dragon-embellished black jacket with a frog closure over a white shirt with a black ribbon tie and black trousers.
Gucci and John have also teamed up for John’s three-week “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour that kicks off on Sept. 8, with Michele signing on to exclusively design all the costumes. While making that announcement last week, the 70-year-old pop icon wore a ruffled shirt and a jacquard jacket embellished with hundreds of hand-sewn crystals and pearls, including “Gucci loves Elton” written across the back.
