Thirsty Reporter: Grammys-Inspired Cocktails to Turn Up Your Viewing Party

Because Sunday fun day.

Last year's Grammys may not have had as much drama as last year's Academy Awards, but who's to say 2018 won't give us another Kanye West vs. Taylor Swift moment? (We're talking about Swift's shade from her 2016 acceptance speech, lest you be confused and thinking of the time West interrupted Swift's speech at the '09 VMAs.)

Regardless, to make sure you're prepared for the worst (best?) part of the show, we suggest taking the edge off with a couple of cocktails inspired by the nominees. Created by Chicago-based mixologist Jonathan Zaragoza for Jim Beam, the Blue Apology — a reference to Jay Z's 4:44, nominated for album of the year — and the Stay Woke — in honor of Childish Gambino's nominated album — are sure to do the trick.

Blue Apology (above left)
-15 blueberries
-1 sprig of mint
- 0.5 oz simple syrup
- 0.5 oz lemon juice
- 1.5 oz Jim Beam Bourbon
Ginger beer

Muddle the blueberries with the mint and simple syrup until puree forms. Add the lemon juice and the bourbon and top with ice. Shake until cold, then double strain into a tumbler filled with crushed ice. Top with ginger beer. Finish by garnishing with skewered blueberries and mint.

Stay Woke (above right)
- 0.5 oz blue curacao
- 1.5 oz Jim Beam Bourbon
- 0.5 oz simple syrup
- 0.75 lemon juice
- 1 egg white

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and dry shake until frothy. Add ice and shake until cold. Double strain into a coup glass.
