The agreement extends Nordisk's output deal to include films produced via Amblin Partners, including Todd Haynes' upcoming feature starring Mark Ruffalo and Anne Hathaway.

Hot off the huge success of Oscar-winner Green Book, David Linde and Jeff Skoll's production banner Participant Media have extended their output deal with leading Scandinavian distribution group Nordisk Film Distribution, signing a new, multi-year agreement.

The deal, announced Thursday at the Cannes International Film Festival, extends Nordisk's output deal with Participant to include features produced via Steven Spielberg's Amblin Partners shingle. Amblin Partners was set up in 2015 by Spielberg, Skoll, Darren Throop of production and distribution group eOne and Anil Ambani of Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group. China's Alibaba Pictures and U.S. studio Universal Pictures hold stakes in the company.

Among the Amblin projects included in the new Nordisk deal will be Todd Haynes' as-yet-untitled drama starring Mark Ruffalo and Anne Hathaway, inspired by the DuPont environmental law suit.

Nordisk has, for several years, released Participant films, including hits such as Wonder and On the Basis of Sex, across Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland. Peter Farrelly's segregation-era drama Green Book, starring Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali, earned upwards of $10.7 million across Scandinavia, making it the highest-grossing Participant title in the region to date.

“Nordisk Film is a leader in the Scandinavian marketplace and we are thrilled to continue our partnership with them,” said Participant CEO David Linde in a statement. “The breadth of talent they have across departments, along with their passion for storytelling to spark positive, real-world impact, has led to an incredible alignment between our companies over the past several years, and we look forward to providing audiences with more inspiring content.”

Participant is one of the few independent production outfits with international distribution deals in place in much of the world for its upcoming slate. EOne handles distribution of Participant's Amblin titles in the U.K., Benelux, Spain, Australia and New Zealand, while Lionsgate handles sales for remaining international rights.
