Makeup Monday: Gwyneth Paltrow's Beauty Brand Releases New Pregnancy Peel

The face peel coincidentally bears the name of Paltrow's first born.

Juice Beauty, the non-toxic beauty company that Gwyneth Paltrow is an investor in, is unsurprisingly aligned with the actress’ ethos of clean and healthy living. Makes sense, considering topics regarding all forms of wellness, from aura readings to mouthwatering summer cocktails, are what her website Goop is built on.

Paltrow’s business partner, Karen Behnke, started Juice to fill a need for clean products before, during and after pregnancy, and now the beauty entrepreneurs are going back to the roots (or core as it were) of the company, releasing a new pregnancy peel that coincidentally bears the name of Paltrow's first born.

The Green Apple Pregnancy Peel ($45) is suited especially for pregnant women or those trying to get pregnant because it contains no vitamin A (a common ingredient in face peels that has also been linked to birth defects in children). However, it still manages to deliver spa-grade exfoliation and work to correct dark spots and hyper pigmentation, zap blemishes and promote an overall brighter complexion.

"The whole cosmetics industry is totally unregulated. They’re using chemicals that are potentially carcinogenic and endocrine disrupting," says Paltrow. "People are really understanding now how absorbent an organ the skin is — how when we put toxic chemicals on our skin, that it’s not good for you."

Paltrow's pals seem to agree, particularly Kate Hudson and Alicia Silverstone who are known fans of the brand.

"Ten or fifteen years ago with organic food, people didn’t understand it, and now we have this mass movement," says Paltrow. Her beauty brand certainly seems to reflect the move toward clean beauty, carrying everything from hair care to sunscreen and makeup.

And for those who want to get on board with healthy beauty, but don’t want to forgo the anti-aging effects of more traditional products (i.e. everyone); the company is also launching a Stem Cellular Anti-Wrinkle Solutions Kit this month, which means potentially fewer lines with no harsh chemicals, and what we like to call a win-win situation.
