Haimes set to alter 'History'
Set to work on script for Fox projectExec-turned-screenwriter Marc Haimes has come on to work on the adventure script "Family History," in development at Fox.
The story, described as "National Treasure" meets "Back to the Future," has been shepherded by producers Cormac & Marianne Wibberley, who co-wrote the two Disney "National Treasure" films. Michael Punke originally drafted the project.
"It's an adventure about a family on a treasure hunt through time," said Haimes, a development exec at DreamWorks until last fall. "It has the kind of big idea that I loved working on as an executive. At DreamWorks, I never tried to brand myself. Working on lots of different types of movies was what I loved to do. I hope to have that same opportunity as a screenwriter."
Anonymous Content's Steve Golin ("Babel") also is producing, and Peter Kang is overseeing the project for Fox. The studio would not confirm the story line.
Haimes, repped by WMA and Benderspink, was an executive at DreamWorks for more than 13 years. He sold his first screenplay, "Elevator Men," to Summit in March.
