Hallmark Channels, AT&T in carriage dispute

Renewal talks at impasse ahead of Tuesday deadline

NEW YORK - Add the Hallmark Channels and AT&T U-verse to this year's list of carriage fee showdowns.

Discussions between various TV network operators and distributors over the fees that network groups get paid have gone down to the wire this year, and on Thursday, Crown Media-owned Hallmark Channels warned that its talks with U-verse have come to a standstill.

U-verse has informed its subscribers that if a renewal ageement doesn't done by Tuesday, subscribers may lose Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel.

"We hope AT&T will recognize the extraordinary value of our channels and renew the carriage agreement," said Hallmark Channels president and CEO Bill Abbott.
