Hallmark exec to join Byron Allen's company
Janice Arouh to be president of domestic distrib'n, marketingJanice Arouh, currently executive vp affiliate sales and marketing at Hallmark Channel, is joining Bryon Allen's Entertainment Studios as president of domestic distribution and marketing, effective May 10.
In her new capacity, Arouh will oversee all facets of domestic distribution and marketing for all of Entertainment Studios' six 24-hour HD networks, including pets.TV and cars.TV. Arouh's duties will include sales strategy, national accounts, affiliate relations, sales operations and business development initiatives.
"Janice's leadership, management depth and extensive trusting relationships with the distributor community will be major assets as we embark on expanding the presence of our HD networks and create additional opportunities for growth, including launching compelling 3D networks," said Allen, who is chairman-CEO of Entertainment Studios.
During Arouh's tenure at Hallmark, the channel grew revenue and distribution to 90 million subscribers and secured renewals with 95% of distributors. Arouh also supervised the launch of Hallmark Movie Channel in HD, which is now in 35 million homes. Hallmark Movie Channel was the fastest-growing cabler in 2009, adding nearly 16 million subs.
Before joining Hallmark Channel in 2004, Arouh was senior vp affiliate marketing at Fox Cable Networks.
L.A.-based Entertainment Studios owns not only HD channels Pets and Cars but also outlets devoted to comedy, cooking and travel. The company also produces, distributes and sells advertising for some two-dozen syndicated shows.
