LONDON -- An eclectic mix of U.S. and international names headlined by lead Damian Lewis and including Daryl Hannah, Virginie Ledoyen and John Malkovich have signed up for Raoul Ruiz's period flick "Love and Virtue," producers said Monday.

The cast also includes Peter O'Toole, Saffron Burrows, Stephen Dillane, Leonor Varela, Vincent Perez, Michael Madsen, Melvil Poupaud, Anna Massey, Cristian de la Fuente, Max Ryan, Alexa Rey and Boo Boo Stewart.

Lewis plays the hero, Orlando, a knight in King Charlemagne's court who is in love with Ledoyen's Angelica, in the picture which is based on legends "The Song of Roland" and "Orlando Innamorato."

From an original script penned by Mia Sperber and Stefano Pratesi, the movie is set to start shooting March next year on location in Belgium, Luxembourg and then London.

Sperber is producing for U.K.-based banner Fountain of Life Prods. alongside Alex Sullivan for The Leo Media and Entertainment Group.

Co-producers are Jimmy de Brabant and Bob Bellion of Delux Productions with Kwesi Dickson of Future Films. John Daly is executive producing.

Ruiz said in a statement: "It is a pleasure to work with such an outstanding cast and team that has put its heart and mind into creating a feature of superb cinematography, stunning sets and costumes, and unforgettable music. The dreamy, magical side of the characters does not detract from their authenticity, but rather enhances the chance that modern viewers will be able to identify with them given the current widespread mystical approach to life."
