Happy 4/20: How Hollywood Is Celebrating on Social Media

It's a high holiday for cannabis consumers.

Today's the day: April 20, aka 4/20, is the official high holiday to celebrate smoking (or eating/drinking/vaping) marijuana, and tokers in Hollywood are posting to social media in celebration.

In case you were wondering, there are several theories about why 4/20 is what it is: One, the legend of the police radio code, which involves a code "420" for offenders. Two, the legend of the Waldos, which involves a group of high school students in Marin County who gather every day at, you guessed it, 4:20, to get high after school and before their parents got home. Grateful Dead followers followed their lead, and a holiday was born. Or, there's the legend of the Bob Dylan song, "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35" with the memorable refrain, "Everybody must get stoned." If you multiple 12 x 35, you get 420. So you can put that in … whatever … and smoke it.
