'Happy Feet' chilling atop '07 DVD list

Warner Home Video's "Happy Feet" remained the top-selling DVD in the country for the second consecutive week and also managed to surpass another Warner title, "The Departed," to become the No. 1 seller of 2007.

Universal Studios' "The Good Shepherd," meanwhile, debuted as the No. 1 renter, according to Home Media Magazine's rental chart for the week ending April 8. The film earned an estimated $8.7 million in rental stores, compared with $8.5 million for second-ranked "The Pursuit of Happyness," from Sony Pictures, the previous week's top renter.

"Shepherd," the thriller directed by Robert De Niro and starring Matt Damon and Angelina Jolie, debuted at No. 3 on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart, behind Paramount's "Charlotte's Web." The big-budget remake of the classic children's story, which stars Dakota Fanning and features Julia Roberts as the voice of Charlotte, grossed $82.6 million in theaters and bowed at No. 5 on the rental chart with $5.7 million.

Making a surprisingly strong debut its first week in stores was Genius Products' DVD release of the Weinstein Co.'s "Black Christmas" remake. The horror film earned just $16.2 million at the boxoffice but debuted at No. 11 on the sales chart and No. 14 on the rental chart with $2.4 million.

Buena Vista's "Jump In!" -- a Disney Channel movie along the lines of "High School Musical" -- debuted at No. 9 on First Alert.
