A Cheeto apparently believed to resemble the Cincinnati Zoo gorilla Harambe has almost reached bids of six figures on eBay

The odd auction got passed around on social media, and that likely led to the high-dollar bidding war.

The auction, based in Burbank, ends on Tuesday. There are currently 119 bids. The offer is nonrefundable.

"I opened up a bag of Flamin Hot Cheetos and as soon as I looked inside I came across this unique Cheetos that looks like Harambe the gorilla," according to the item description. "It measures up to about 1 1/2 inches in length."

The actual 17-year-old Harambe was killed in May 2016 by zoo staff after a child fell into the animal's cage. Zoo officials said they had to act in order to save the child's life. The gorilla's death outraged many who believed the animal lost its life needlessly because the boy's parents were careless.

The Cincinnati Zoo got such harsh blow-back over the controversy it temporarily shut down its Twitter account.
