Co-president was at the company for more than 25 yearsHarold Akselrad, a 25-year veteran of HBO, will exit his post as co-president overseeing the network's legal, business affairs, film acquisition and technology groups.
HBO said Tuesday that Akselrad sees this as "the perfect time to pursue other professional and personal interests" after having recently concluded negotiations with several theatrical studio suppliers on HBO's behalf.
"After 25 years, I am grateful to be able to say that I have achieved all that I set out to achieve at HBO and received from the experience more than I could have hoped," Akselrad said.
He was appointed to his current position in June 2007 and continued to serve as general counsel.
"Hal's contributions to HBO are simply too enormous to enumerate here, but it is clear that his positive influence on HBO will continue for many years to come," HBO chairman and CEO Bill Nelson said.
