Harpo appoints new production execs

Sheri Salata, Erik Logan named co-presidents

Two members of Oprah Winfrey's executive team have been appointed to lead Harpo Productions.

Sheri Salata, executive producer of "The Oprah Winfrey Show," and Erik Logan, executive vp, Harpo, Inc., have been named presidents of the production unit as the company prepares to develop new programming beyond the talk show host's syndicated series.

With Winfrey's cable network OWN debuting in 2011, Harpo will develop new programming for cable, as well as for syndication, primetime, radio, digital, and emerging platforms.

"Harpo Productions is a world-class production company in Chicago and will continue on after 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' sunsets," Winfrey said. "Under Sheri and Erik's leadership, I am confident in Harpo's future and know that we will continue to create quality programming with compelling content for all platforms. Not even the sky is the limit for this company."

In addition to Winfrey's talk show, Harpo produces "Dr. Phil," "Rachael Ray" and the recently debuted successful new series, "The Dr. Oz Show." Tim Bennett, the current president of Harpo, Inc., retires next May.
