Harris to anchor ABC 'World News'

ABC News named Dan Harris as anchor of "World News Sunday."

Harris, who has been an ABC News correspondent since 2000, replaces Terry Moran, who moved over to "Nightline." Harris has been anchoring the newscast on an interim basis since earlier this year. Harris anchored the newscast for example the Mideast during the Israeli war against Hamas last summer.

In addition to the anchorship, he continue to be a New York-based correspondent for other shows like "ABC World News with Charles Gibson" and "Good Morning America."

Since joining ABC News in March 2000, he has traveled the world for the network and covered the war in Iraq, Afghanistan and reported from South Korea. He was in Baghdad for the 2003 invasion and has also covered the Howard Dean and John Kerry campaigns among many other stories.

A native of Newton, Mass., Harris began his career at WLBZ-TV in Bangor, Maine, and also worked as an anchor and reporter at WCSH-TV in Portland, Maine. From 1997 to 2000, Harris was an anchor at New England Cable News.
