Harry Shum Jr. Signs With Paradigm (Exclusive)
The ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ actor is in the running for People’s choice male TV star for his ‘Shadowhunters’ role.
Harry Shum Jr. has signed with Paradigm, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned. He was previously with Innovative.
The move unites the dancer-turned-actor with the agent team that already represents his Crazy Rich Asians castmate Henry Golding. Shum was teased in the post-credits scene of the Warner Bros. hit, which at $172 million at the box office so far is the most successful romantic comedy of the decade. His character, Charlie Wu, is expected to have a major romantic arc in the sequel.
Shum also currently is one of the five male TV stars of 2018 nominees for the People’s Choice Awards, which will take place Nov. 11 on E! The recognition is for his work as the fan-favorite warlock Magnus Bane on Freeform’s Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments, which will air its final episodes next spring.
Shum first gained notice as part of the SAG-winning ensemble of Fox’s Glee, where he played Mike Chang, a.k.a. Other Asian. His other credits include Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu’s dance-oriented webseries The LXD, Wong Fu Productions’ YouTube Red series Single By 30 (alongside Crazy Rich Asians wedding singer Kina Grannis) and Netflix’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny).
He will next be seen in Escape Plan 3 with Sylvester Stallone and the indie thriller Burn with Josh Hutcherson and Suki Waterhouse.
Shum continues to be represented by Triniti Management and Stone Genow.
