Hasbro Studios, Italy's Mediaset Strike TV Programming Deal

The toy giant and media firm also team up for exclusive licensing pact.

NEW YORK - Hasbro Studios, the production and distribution division of toy giant Hasbro, has struck a programming deal with Italian media group Mediaset.

The Italian company, controlled by Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, will broadcast Transformers Prime, My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, G.I. Joe Renegades, The Adventures of Chuck and Friends and Pound Puppies on multiple
channels, the companies said Tuesday.

A significant component of the deal, which launches in the fourth quarter, sees Mediaset serve as Hasbro’s exclusive licensing agent for merchandise tied to the five programs, as well as Hasbro's Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit and Littlest Pet Shop brands in Italy.

"Mediaset is Italy’s leading media group and the perfect strategic partner for us in this key territory," said Hasbro Studios president Stephen Davis.
